Early Language Comprehension Individualized Instruction (ELCII)

ELCII is designed to improve reading comprehension by developing inference making for all students in kindergarten across a 10-12 week period. It is a Tier I (MTSS framework) instructional tool that supplements Kindergarten core literacy instruction.

ELCII is unique because it does not rely on decoding skills. It includes a series of video-based lessons delivered via an interactive, digital application. ELCII also offers optional scripted read-alouds to supplement the video lessons..

In ELCII, Kindergarten students engage in 40 (3-4 times a week x 20 min each) fully automated lessons:

• View age-appropriate (fiction and nonfiction) videos
• Learn key academic vocabulary words
• Respond (by touch screen selections) to inferential questions with scaffolding or feedback
